“Waking Dream” by Patrick Lee Hebert

This is a poem from my book ” The Forgotten Dream” that is coming out soon. I remember thinking of how we often have to fight for our dreams with opposition at every corner. Never give …

Sad Moon

Back to basics! In 1995 I came to Tennessee to visit my wife’s parents. During this lazy vacation, I decided to take some time and write some classical like sonatinas for piano solo. I was teaching alot and needed some new material. One of these I re-worked from an unfinished one in G Major. I wrote the second movement and really liked the way it just sang. When I got back to New Hampshire, I added it to Patronics and the rest is history. I still teach it as a solo today and have always considered it a personal favorite. Stay tuned to this blog for much info on all our for sale music that just came out. Here is…

Wind Trios…not really wind

My son and I began writing trios for woodwinds recently. The problem was neither of us played the three instruments oboe, flute and bassoon. So…electronic methods were conveyed to us. We wrote them in Sibelius; a notation program. It was fun to use the skills I learned in music school all those years before. The one I wish to share with you today is called ” Medieval fair.” It has roots in early Bach and being in the key of A minor…sounds a bit like an old fair in the medieval period to me. Listen here: Trio in Am

The Collective Mind

This song is another selection from my un-released album ” Patronics”. It describes the Borg collective. If you are not a Trekkie like me, here is the explanation. The Borg is a race that threatens the entire universe. They come, take over and absorb all organic and tech from a planet. Their motto is ” Resistance is futile”. They are all connected through a hive like existence where the minds of all are the whole. It is very efficient…and very deadly. So Listen to this tune…you have to…resistance is futile! The Collective Mind    Publication1

Black Moon

This song was a cool one to make. During my 1996 fascination with electronic music I created this. Alot of these songs were kind of like space soundtracks. I made them all so quick it is hard to remember even how I did it! LOL…Artist Liberty. Keep posted to this site for more freebies. I still have 7 left in the “Patronics” queue. And don’t forget that my new album “Laments,Dreams, and Visions” came out today. Click to listen…click to support my music by perhaps buying one…or all nine.

The Girl in the Picture Poems.

The Girl in The Picture. From the book ” The Forgotten Dream” by Patrick Lee Hebert

The poems from this series are written in a very symbolic form. The girl mentioned in the works is symbolic of peace. The forest with all its beauty is the possibility of contentment. The girl is ever elusive, except for glimpses and a bit more the narrator mentions. They were written over a long period of time and many were the subjects of songs from my solo piano albums; “The Girl in the Picture” being the most prominent. I have an old picture of a girl and her horse in my studio which is very much how I picture her. She is unsure of herself and sad. She is petite and blonde with golden eyes. She wears an expression of sorrow that seems, somehow, as if she is about to conquer something important, if only to her. I also think my wife, Caroline is in there as well; seeing how I describe her several times. She is in real life a true beauty with the grace and beauty similar to the way the poems describe. These scenes in word gave me a feeling or reminder that someday my problems would pass and I would be pleased with my life and life’s work. I was in my mid-twenties when I started the series and was thirty when the bulk was finished. I wrote three of the poems in the past 6 years. “The Girl in the Picture” is also the name of a novel that I have been writing for several years as well as a song from my album ” Murmurs. Listen to the song here: The Girl in the Picture

Here below are two poems from the series. Subscribe and receive periodic freebies!

Bold and beautiful
Her eyes dance upon mine
Her lips inviting
She smells of me

Guided by the loneliness
Only she can create
I wish to touch her hair
Smell her lovely hair

Lonely whispers
Distant murmurs
She calls for me
Wanting to hold me

The forest is speaking
Things undeserved
Things she sees
She is turning away

She waits for me
In the meadow across the way
Shy and contained
Her love reaches

There is a brook
Quick and spirited where
She laments my passing
She thinks I do not see her

Every day I pass
Hoping for a glimpse of her
Not knowing she hides in the trees
Hoping for the same

I continue alone
Forsaken it seems
I think I can feel her
Want to know her

It has been centuries
But time has no place here
One of these days
We will both see

A blast from the past!

Publication1In the mid nineties I had a go at electronic music. Everyone else was so why not me? I hooked my keyboard up to my new computer software and just went. I never published any of these pieces as my solo piano career was just taking off. There were several pieces that I submitted to Hollywood for movie themes and such. Today’s offering is called ” The Borg Ship”. I thought that maybe Star Trek would want it. I guess not because I never heard back…LOL. But they were fun to do and really was my first time playing with effects and such. It is supposed to describe the inside of the ship the enemy of the federation lived in. If you are not a trekkie like me, it will just be a cool song. But if you know the Borg, you can hear them clanging about in there. I will release a few more of these songs in my next blogs. Super fun. I hope you like it. Here it is:  The Borg Ship

Dreams Like Smoke

Dreams like Smoke is a fairly strange tune…LOL…Big Surprise right? This album has been a journey believe me. This song is about when your dreams are bigger than your reality and it upsets you. So…you make them fit! But it is not easy most of the time hence the turbulent sound of this tune. It is searching and kinda frustrated. I really enjoyed recording it in one take…always nice. So enjoy this weeks offering by clicking here Dreams Like Smoke
